Transmission swap and problems
My son and mechanic friend dropped a manual trans into a 99 Cherokee Sport which had an automatic as original equipment. Two problems: trouble code that shows it's stuck in "Park" and random stalling. Mechanic friend also did this to his own 2001 Cherokee and changed the ECM/PCM. Parts suppliers won't touch this 'cause of the trans. swap. Any info from the Community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The computer is looking for the transmission. You will have to remove the TCM and the ECM and replace the automatic ECM with one from a 99 Jeep cherokee with a manual trans. You may have to look in the Junk Yard for the correct ECM. Or possibly buy a new one for a 99 with a manual trans.
