Default transmission

I have a deal on an AX5 transmission, which I intend to replace my AW4 with. My jeep is two wheel drive and the AW5 comes with a transfer case. Would I still be able to use this transmission with my 2wd? can I remove the transfer case if not needed?

What engine was in front of the AX5 and what engine do you have?

he must have a 4.0 according to his signature, because the 4 cylinder engines never had AW4 behind it.

And because it's a 1995, that would mean it's 23 spline, and the ax5 is 21 spline so no that ll not work.

Or did you meant to say AX15?

.

2wd and 4x4 trans are different you can't just remove the t case and make it 2wd it won't work like that.

Thanks! That's what I wanted to know. From Louisville I see? That's my home town, we just passed through about two weeks ago.

My hometown is Largo.

You can use the 4WD trans and just let the TC hang there, won't bother anything.
