Default Transfer Case Removal Question

Hey Folks,

Dropping the TC once again due to me doing a horrible job at sealing it back up.

i had some issues once everything was installed. It was grinding going into Neutral and 4L. I installed a SYE and got a new chain. What gear should the TC case be in ? Last time I left it in Neutral. Any help would be appreciated.

well that’s what I thought as well. One member on FB mentioned it should be dropped while engaged on 4L.

Just installed my SYE. Per the instructions, they said to put it in 4 low (after the shift linkage was disconnected). We moved it when we were lining everything back up. No issues that I've noticed.

Thank you for the responses.

what would cause grinding noise when shifting into Neutral or 4L?

fluid capacity is correct.

Just confirming the transmission is in neutral when shifting the t-case? And if it is are you really having to force it?

yes sir. Tranny in Neutral. When I shift TC it starts to grind so I stopped. Not forcing anything

I shut the engine off. Shift the TC Into N or 4L and it engages . All light on dash are correct.
