I can't say if kris' kit is as good or not as I've never used his but if you picked his up for about $450 plus a $300 dana 300 and use your existing 231 you can have a doubler for about $750-800 after buying misc items like gear oil ect. A doubler imo is a better up grade than a locker or anything else.

Thanks that simplified it a lot for me as I have never torn into a TC, bit have dabbled in other mechanical projects. I am assuming you are referring to the doubler that Froehlichsuspension is offering.

Both kris' kit and the ddmachine kit will be somewhat similar. The d300 doesnt have to be taken apart at all. The 231 took me about 15 minutes to take apart and figure out the first time I took one apart. My 231 is at a friends house right now ill take pics and post here if I have time later.

Heres a pic of the actual adapter, the 231 is in the first picture, The half with the planetaries in it that are used for the doubler.

Here is a mock up of how the 231/300 will fit together. there is an intermediate shaft that connects the planetaries from the 231 to the input shaft of the dana 300.
Imagine the front of the jeep pointing towards the right of the picture, the 231 bolts to the transmission and the dana 300 hangs off the rear. (ill be making a bracket to help support both of the cases.)

This is the most difficult part is welding or having the aluminum plate welded on the end of the 231, still fairly simple. you literally cut the left side off of the 231 which is where your old front drive shaft would bolt to. ( the 231 is flipped upside down in the second picture)
You will have a gaping hole on the side of the case this is where you put the aluminum piece and weld it up. This part scared me away from doing this set up in the past. it is very easy to do and nothing to worry about.
