You can find some Ford 8.8s from explorers with 308 they have discs you would need to weld on brackets and I'm sure there are zj d35 with 307 and discs buying wouldn't swap in a d35 if I'm going through the trouble of swapping. The easiest would be finding a newer xj rear axle so its an 8.25 that had a 4.0 manual and bolting that in with the discs brakes from a zj or kj

as far as lunchbox yep. for a nicer option I would go with a detroit for auto locking, or an Eaton E-locker for selectable. My 2 favorites, but In my xj I have a spartan in the back, and lock-right up front.

Not talking bad on Detroit cause there a good locker i just have better luck with the lunch box lockers there cheap and can be replaced on the trail never had to but it could be done i can save money on them and not have to run the additive
