Torque converter lock

I want to wire a switch to my TCU to make my torque converter lock at different speeds ive searched but what exactly will locking the torque converter do?

It will cause the tranny input to turn the same RPMs as the engine. Like in a manual. But if you do this, only lock it at steady highway speeds.
The engine will turn about 300 RPMs less with the TC locked up. I myself would leave it be.

I want to be able to lock it now on a switch cause im ordering a rock rail to fully manually control my tranny but was really meant to ask can i damage anything in the tranny
