Im writing this to give a shout out to Torq-Masters and specifically their rep Cora Jokinen.
Several months ago I bought a Torq Locker on ebay for my 8.25. After install I had problems with it ratcheting going in a straight line. As simple as these are, I took it apart several times and couldn’t find the problem. I finally contacted Torq-Masters and Cora worked with me for a couple weeks troubleshooting as I had time. Long story short, we found out the locker was defective and the ebay seller was a disgruntled former employee selling prototypes/failed prototypes that were never meant to be sold.
They ended up selling me a verified legitimate Torq Locker at a big discount even though it wasn’t their fault.
I was also able to get a refund from the ebay seller.

The engagement is just like other lunchbox lockers and it acts and responds the same too. The big difference is it doesn’t have all the pins to install. They are “built in” to the gears themselves as big raised tabs. This without a doubt makes it stronger. It also makes it easier to install. Just 2 springs, one center gap measurement and you are done.

So I have had this in for several months now and am very pleased with it.
When comparing it to other lunch box lockers, like the Lock Right and Power Trax in my other XJ, I notice 2 subtle differences.
1. It engages slightly sooner. Im assuming due to having 2 gear springs instead of 4.
2. The ratcheting sound has a slightly deeper noise. Im assuming due to not having pins like the other lockers. The Torq Locker had the “pins” made into the gears themselves which I would think makes it inherently stronger.
Great product as well as great customer service.
