I have always used detroit. I have had no problems using them. Its a good locker. Never had any expirence with lockright. They seem like a decent locker. If you do get that one let me know how it does. I have been curios on how they do.

aussie locker> lock-right

they have a much better warranty.

powertrax is generally smoother than the above.

full case detroit locker is more expensive, but stronger and smoother than the above.

to help you with the decision between aussie and lockright read this link

i would have to agree with KTM and suggest the aussie to you.

I ran lockrights in my 30/35 combo for years and not a single issue. Stick it in the front and you won't notice a thing in 2wd but it'll letcha know it's there in 4wd Put it in the back and you'll know it's there everyday, but it's not too bad really. Put it in both and go where you please

Can't go wrong with a Detroit...very streetable and quiet...not to mention strong as all hell.

One thing the lunch boxes can't compete with is the forged body that replaces the cast carrier.

Default buying a locker

Is it going in the front or rear? I would say go with a cheap auto locker for the front and a selectable locker for the rear. You won't even know they are there on the streets if you drive it daily. I have a spartan in the front and really like it.

I wanted the powertrax no slip because it doesn't make any clicking noise but its over twice the price of the Lokka so... Lokka it is.

this post is from 2007....but my .02 cents, running a lunchbox (aussie) up front with a Detroit in the rear is a great combo...it's still "streetable" in 2wd... but in 4wd it's fully locked.

i've had my lock-rite's in for almost 10 years. works great, wouldn't run unlocked.

either or, a locker or spool for the rear, i would say selectable for the front.
there are times you won't want the front locked in 4wd.

Keep in mind, a lunchbox locker up front will make the Full-Time 4wd of the 242 useless for it's intended purposes, snow, wet pavement, etc.
I've had an Aussie in the 8.25 for 2 years now. Can hear it clicking from a block away. Works perfectly as long as the clearances are correct when installed.
