A sye is much better it is strong because it changes the the transfer case to a fixed shaft and you use a cv style driveline. Tc drop is crap puts more stress on everything and still get vibes sometimes. With a sye you can run a front driveline in the rear also.

SYE is better because it's more of a proper soultion but the drop would probably be fine for a while. If you have the money just do the SYE so you get it over with and done the first time.

I agree with the other two. Do the SYE and if you end up going higher in the future, it is already done. You might still need it anyways... no fun when it slides out. Much better to not have the extra wear from a drop kit. Do not need both.

Ok that's what I was wanting to kno I am set on a rustys 4.5" advanced lift kit it says it comes with a drop kit and a drop kit just didn't seem very practical or long living. So I was curious if the sye is the way to go haha.so that's what I'm gonna do is just fork over the cash for a SYE

Go with a sye. I just did a 3" lift on my fiances XJ. I figured I wouldn't need a drop or sye with such a small lift but boy was I wrong. I made a drop for it with some 1" square stock I had around but still had vibration. I replaced the rear u joints but that wasn't it. I took out the rear shaft and drove in front wheel drive. Now I have no vibration what so ever. I just ordered a hack n tap for it a few hours ago.
