Default sway bar quick disconnect experience

I just wanted to share my experience installing rough country sway bar quick disconnects. Well for the most part everything went smooth except for removing the studs on the lower bracket. the passenger side came out with some heat but the drivers side man oh man major PITA! I ended up cutting off the threads, grinding both sides smooth and drilling out the hole. its one of those things i hope no one else has to got through. But anyways just thought i would share my experience. Sorry i dont have any pics to post, i was just focused on getting it done and ready for work tomorrow morning. please feel free to ask any questions.

A lot of people have been through it, and posted tips and tricks here. A gear puller pops them suckers right out 99.5% of the time, worked like a charm for me.

I grind the head off the stud, then put a piece of tube over the threads, put the nut back on and used the ratchet/socket until the stud popped off.

Hey XJwonders thats a good idea. But idk if that would've worked for me. I was part of that half percent where the tie rod puller didn't work. I'm just glad i dont have to deal with that again.

That seems to be the general sentiment around here, but you do realize that the problem the OP was having had nothing to do with RC parts, but with the removal of stock part.

I just used a bearing press and a nematic impact. Didn't take no more than 10 minutes

I used a ball joint press.

My RC one have ~3K miles and I don't think they will make 5K from the looks of them. I'm not the original owner so no parts available for either warranty or purchase.

Yea a ball joint press does sound like the way to do it for the stubborn ones. Im just glad i dont have to deal with that again and i guess i was lucky i only struggles with one side. And sreeb, i hope they last longer than that. But i mean when and if they fail I'm sure i'll be at a point where i could afford something legit.

I don't blame you on that. Sounds like a real PITA. You sound like your like me always on a time frame and anything that can go wrong finds a way to go wrong. Lol.
