Default Swapping Axles with 3.55 to 3.73?? worth it?

buddies got a set of dana 30 and chy 8.25 from a Zj, with disc brakes. wants $200. is it worth the time and money to swap axles from 3.55 to 3.73, im running 32x11.5 right now, planning to go bigger eventually. i think the axles i have are 3.55, tags arent on the axles tho.

I will stop you right there... if it came out of a ZJ it's not a c 8.25 and it's a low pinion D30

obviously it is better but the work put into it and the gains you get don't even begin to compare. but if you like wrenching for the sake of wrenching. knock your self out, good practice

You need to learn what your talking about first. First off you're talking about gear ratio and axles like they're the same thing.

I understood exactly what he meant, no need to be a ***** about it. He had a legitimate question that he wanted answered.

And to add on to the above, if it's an 8.25 it's not out of a ZJ. And it's not an 8.25, but is out of a ZJ, you're gonna have to cut off coil spring and link brackets, and weld on spring perches. So no, it's not worth it just to go up to 3.73's. Save your money for now

Not worth it, especially of you want to go bigger than 32's. 4.10's are recommended for 32/33's, so 3.73's aren't gonna do much. That and the work involved vs the gains (as stated) doesn't equal out at all.
Oh, and x2 on not being a jerk, Alex. I knew exactly what he was saying because it's IMPLIED that he's talking about gear ratios. If you don't have something that actually contributes to the thread, don't respond. Basic forum rules, you should read 'em. They're in a sticky at the top of the forum section.

Friend thought they were dana 30 and chy 8.25 but it a dana 30 and dana 35 so I just gonna stick with my 30 and 8.25 till I save enough for 33s and either 4.10s or axles with 4.10s in them
