I have a couple questions, I'm sitting on a rough country 3-in lift, I want to move to a 4.5 inch long arm. I already have the break lines, adjustable sway bar links, a 1-1.5 inch lift shackle relocation kit, and a SYE

1) in the rear I am worried that I won't make the 4.5 inch mark. Not to mention I have an add a leaf in already saggy leaf springs. I'm not opposed to getting new 3-in lift leaf springs. But I don't want to go broke buying RE 3.5 inch leaf springs. So I was wondering if there is a shackle that is adjustable from either stock to an inch of lift, or like .5 to 1 inch.

2) then I was wondering on the front I have 3-in lifted coil springs, Can I get just a 1.5inch puck for it? Or should I wait and get 4.5 inch coils springs?

3) I daily my jeep, would I need longer rear sway bar links and if so where can I get them. I want it to feel nice on and off road. 2001 xj sport.

Yes you can get pucks, or you can stack three OEM type XJ front coil insulators. You can check into ACOS front adjustable spacers. You can get about 5" lift without worrying about shackles from the Isuzu Rodeo rear springs. Cut the eyes off and use the whole thing as a bastard pack. Bottom leaf needs to be upside down. Gives a nice smooth ride, but you need to make sure you use your front sway bar to limit body roll

 

Rubicon Express leafs are the same price for 3.5" or 4.5" so id argue why not just buy the 4.5" springs? $180/spring is not a bad price really. Long arms and SYE will definitely help that ride quality for that lift. Rear sway bar not necessary though. Keeping the front sway bar will keep you plenty stable

 

As someone who built their own bastard packs first, and replaced those with RE 4.5's, I'm going to agree with this.

By the time I paid for new center pins, donor leafs from the junkyard, graphite paint, plastic leaf slider pads, leaf alignment brackets, and new u bolts fur the axle, and the time it took to build, rebuild, and rebuild again (to dial in the correct height for the lift packs), it was not much more money and definitely not as comfortable ride wise than the RE packs.

Knowing what I know now, I would never build another bastard pack. It's cheaper, easier and better to just buy new leafs.

 

1- Yes there is plenty of adjustable shackles available I am running 3" leaf springs in the rear along with the shackle relocation kit and adjustable shackles, It gave me about 6" of lift but you can adjust them to sit lower than that if you want, flexes really good as well, the only problem is it is hard on the leaf springs and I have bent mine a little bit but it still works fine.

2- You can run 1.5" spacers with 3" coil springs no problem.

3- You don't need a rear sway bar at all, just remove it, mine had the up country suspension so it came factory without one, drives no different than one that does have one.

 

Absolutely been there done that. Be real with your expectations - Do you want to get away with saving some money and have a potentially sacrificed ride qualtity *bastard pack* OR do you want to just spend the money for a spring rate designed for the amount of lift your trying to run. Good quality shocks can also compliment a lift as well. Your economy lift shock will work but will fade out quicker than another product that again is designed to perform with your activities.
