Sunroof Fabrication Question
i didn't know where else to post this...
My 97 XJ came with an aftermarket sunroof, it leaked when i got it.. I cut it out, it leaked, wouldn't close. We ended up gutting it and just gluing the glass down. When i was at the junk yard i seen a 2000 XJ sport with I believe a stock sun roof.
Has anyone ever tried to remove the sunroof from a stock Xj and put it in another XJ?
I kind of want to see if...
1) The stock one will fit
2) If putting in the other sunroof would stop the leaking issue
If thats not an option, I'm debating just putting fiberglass resin around the edges of the leaking sunroof to permanently enclose it. But I'd like to get a working sun roof out of this deal... or in the worst case, just take the glass out... use a grinder or some other method to cut out the same measurement of metal from another xj and just weld or some how permanently attach a roof back into place. Thus ending the leaking issue and allowing me to redo the head liner with suede or something and never have to worry again.

I think he was getting at sheet metal, but that would depend if you like the sunroof enough. I personally think its another thing to break... but to each there own
