Default help with 4.7 build, timing chain?

I am assembling my 4.7 stroker and have a question. On the timing chain set up it has an oil slinging ring that goes on the crank snout. My crank does not have a key way that goes all the way back to engage with the ring. With out the key to turn it I am worried that it will eat away at the ring and disperse metal shavings in my new engine. I did not take the engine apart and this is a new crank. Does anyone have advise for me?
I have pics but can't get them to load, I can text or email them
Thanks

Put everything on except for the timing cover and if everything is tight, it should be okay as long as it dosent wobble, then remove balancer and instal timing cover, it should hold it tight
