thats a 4th order bandpass box. they give nice freq curves. and good sound. i run a single 10in sub (cheapest 10 walmart had) in my xj in a 4th order bandpass. but mine is built to spec for my sub(people cant believe its just 1 10 when they hear it). generic boxes can be dangerous because if it is off far enough from the sub specs the port can "let go" offering no acoustic suspension for the sub. means it will blow.
and dont buy an 8 ohm sub. unless your guna buy 4. it all depends on what your amp is stable at. if you buy a 2ohm stable amp you would want to buy 1-2ohm sub or 2-4ohm or 4-8ohm. if you buy a mono block thats stable down to 1ohm. then buy 1-1ohm sub or 2-2ohm or 4-4ohm. then if ya get into dvc subs just treat each voice coil as its own sub when wiring. if you run a 4ohm load to an amp thats rated at 500watts at 2 ohm you will only get 250watts out of it

I have a lot of experience in car audio. My toyota corolla hit 159 db at a sound off before cracking the windshield. I have to say though, it was fun but totally useless. I could not be in the car with it turned up over half way. Now, I am into SQL rather than SPL. My system for the Jeep is in planning stages and I am going 8" Tang Band subs in small ported enclosures, 2 6.5 JBLs in the back and two 5.25 jbls in the front. My amp selection is not done but it will not have more than about 1000 watts of clean power. My point is if you spend the time in design, you don't have to to big to get quality sound that (trust me) is loud. This leaves you room for other things you would need while you are out on the trail.

My alternator was a 150 amp and I used an Optima Yellow top battery. The wire was all Monster and I dynamatted the whole car with 2 layers. It was an insane stereo but not worth doing again. Way to much money for very little reward. I would rather listen to good quality sound now rather than try to over power everyone around me.
Or maybe I am just getting old.

I have 4 sets of JBL Power Series 6.5s, two Autotek 12" Mean Machine subs and 2400 watts of Autotek Stealth power. This was before Autotek sold out. I really liked their stuff now it is kinda cheap. The JBLs are incredible though. They are super loud and clean which is why I am going to be using them again but not as many.
