I hope u do quote me haha and yeah that 1 sub rms is more than his 2 combined only thing is is that u wont get the 100 more bv the amp is only rated for 500 but its a better quality sub and im sure itll be louder but i made a shopping cart at the website i linked u and itd be around 800 with new higher powered speakers all tje way around which will not only make ir system louder but again cleaner

 

I think I'm gunna wait to buy speakers if I blow them out. This friend I keep mentioning has stock speakers and they work well. But I don't see a link...

Itd be about 450 with box headdeck sub and amp speakers all around for type rs would be another 200 and for type s (still alot better than stock to make ur cheaper system that much better than ur friends) is only like 125 for speakers all around which would be less than what u wanted to spend id get at least the type s speakers while ur doing this and the wiring equip for subs and deck whoch is cheap i did the instalation my self which is rather easy

 

thats a 4th order bandpass box. they give nice freq curves. and good sound. i run a single 10in sub (cheapest 10 walmart had) in my xj in a 4th order bandpass. but mine is built to spec for my sub(people cant believe its just 1 10 when they hear it). generic boxes can be dangerous because if it is off far enough from the sub specs the port can "let go" offering no acoustic suspension for the sub. means it will blow.

and dont buy an 8 ohm sub. unless your guna buy 4. it all depends on what your amp is stable at. if you buy a 2ohm stable amp you would want to buy 1-2ohm sub or 2-4ohm or 4-8ohm. if you buy a mono block thats stable down to 1ohm. then buy 1-1ohm sub or 2-2ohm or 4-4ohm. then if ya get into dvc subs just treat each voice coil as its own sub when wiring. if you run a 4ohm load to an amp thats rated at 500watts at 2 ohm you will only get 250watts out of it

 

I have a lot of experience in car audio. My toyota corolla hit 159 db at a sound off before cracking the windshield. I have to say though, it was fun but totally useless. I could not be in the car with it turned up over half way. Now, I am into SQL rather than SPL. My system for the Jeep is in planning stages and I am going 8" Tang Band subs in small ported enclosures, 2 6.5 JBLs in the back and two 5.25 jbls in the front. My amp selection is not done but it will not have more than about 1000 watts of clean power. My point is if you spend the time in design, you don't have to to big to get quality sound that (trust me) is loud. This leaves you room for other things you would need while you are out on the trail.

 

What did you have that hit 159? set up wise. and how big was your alternator?

 

I have 4 sets of JBL Power Series 6.5s, two Autotek 12" Mean Machine subs and 2400 watts of Autotek Stealth power. This was before Autotek sold out. I really liked their stuff now it is kinda cheap. The JBLs are incredible though. They are super loud and clean which is why I am going to be using them again but not as many.

My alternator was a 150 amp and I used an Optima Yellow top battery. The wire was all Monster and I dynamatted the whole car with 2 layers. It was an insane stereo but not worth doing again. Way to much money for very little reward. I would rather listen to good quality sound now rather than try to over power everyone around me.

Or maybe I am just getting old.

That is crazy! I saw a blazer setup like that. He had 8 10s in isobaric enclosures. He was in the 0-50 watt class though so I did not have to go up against him. He hit 165 db with a 50 watt amp! He also had over 100 speakers and a .5 ohm load.

Yours looks good, have you measured it?
