Default Stroker

I'm a newbie but I'm a hard working, fast learning newbie. I want to dip into the stroker world, but I had some questions and needed help. First off, would I need to do every modification at the same time, or could I put a new part in, put it back together, and keep running until I'm ready for the next? Or do I need to buy all the pieces and put them all in or exchange the old with new all at the same time? Lastly, can somebody give me a thorough list of all the pieces and mods I need for a 4.7-5.0 kit? More power is better but whatever help yall have would be great. Thanks.

If you're only able to do a piece at a time you're gonna blow through extra money replacing the same set of gaskets over and over. Personally I would acquire all the parts first (even if it takes a while) and do it all in one go. There's a lot of parts that its generally best to replace together rather than separately anyways.

Yea on your specific question I would acquire an extra long block, they can be had for free to $300 running at a junk yard and build that.

My thread is pretty thorough on the very minimum todo it right the first time. I will also need 24lb injectors that are not on my list, adj fuel pressure reg along with the map sensor mod cheap if you DIY. The header and intake will really help too.

My budget is $2000

What is yours is where to start.

Go slow, watch craigslist and here, a whole running 258 motor is available about 6 hours from me for $200, but a guy is selling me the 4.2l 258 rods for $40 and I'm getting a remaned crank for $226, cp pistons $133, thats your basic, high compression you will need to run the best fuel you can find, 91+

I see stroker kits online when I research and there's like 100 different parts there. Are they all necessary or is that just fancy crap that doesn't make much or a difference? I don't want to go cheap, where my engine turns into a huge pipe bomb or anything. But I want to go effectively inexpensive.

Also, I've heard of needing to use the highest grade fuel possible after charging, so is this basically the same thing without a fan or a gear? This is just an ignorant question, because I never understood why one would need higher grade fuel after charging and now stroking. Thanks

Look up octane vs compression,And by charging do you mean forced induction like a turbo or supercharger?

Well yes. But even in regards to a stroker I was told to use higher grade fuel.

Most strokers raise the compression ratio of the engine,Higher compression the more octane fuel you need for it.

Right, but why? I prefer to know the reason rather than regurgitate information. Why does higher compression need more octane?

Also, does anybody know what the compression ratio would be with a 5.0 stroker kit on the 4.0?

Google is your friend ask the stroker company what the compression ratio would be,And google compression ratio vs octane youll get the answers you want.
