Strengthen the uni body homebrew
I'm in the process of replacing rusty rockers (inner and outer) and floor pans. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for strengthening the frame and/or front leaf springs mounts on the xj. I was debating on dropping in some rectangular tubing down in the frame when i take the floor out. I was thinking on welding some plates on top of the floor for the leaf spring mounts.

There are many rust repair videos on youtube. Bleepin Jeep is one channel that comes to mind. Spend some time looking over the videos and you will learn alot.

I would just plate the frame rails like all the kits out there for it.Or run boat side rock sliders like https://hooliganoffroadengineering.c...atside-diy-kit

I watched a lot of the you tube videos on the rust repair and some from bleepin jeep. I was just looking for different ideas/ opinions on sticking some 2x4 tubing inside the frame rails (while the floor was out). I have seen some people put sections of 2x4 tubing in the back sections of the frame when making their own bumpers. And any homebrew ideas to prevent the pic below.
I always considered getting the frame plating from ruff stuff etc.

The reason that frame broke like that is it probably rusted from the inside out and got weak enough to snap.If your inside of your frame rails is rusty i would por15 them if not then use a weld through primer,And still plate the frame rails or get one of the many kits out there,Just google xj chassis reinforcement you will see all of them.Honestly i would leave the spring hangers alone but if you want better ones http://www.synergymfg.com/Synergy-Je...t-p-20685.html and they do have better rear shackle hangers also http://www.synergymfg.com/Synergy-Je...t-p-31096.html

Like i said that is from rusting out from the inside out.Plating them will make them stronger and thicker so if it ever does rust it will take a lot longer to eat through the plating.

I welded these on over my stiffners and welded a 3/16 plate over the top for the floor and welded that to my frame rail. It isn't going anywhere now.
