What kind of advice are you looking for?

Mark line, cut metal, done.

Why don't you make a real stubby bumper instead of cutting the aluminum foil bumper?

Its not hard if you can weld. I just took an old hitch and welded it in.

just out of curiosity...are the angled members behind the bumper, the things behind the horns, are they part of the structural integrity of the front end? what exactly are they?

I don't know if they do anything structurally, but I just bent them back and flipped the horns when I installed my winch bumper.

Ordered steel today for something similar. Only difference in mine is I'm holding it out further to protect the front end more and I'm using 1.5" round tube instead of square.

I like the look of stubby bumpers, but they leave you wide open to wreck the front clip, fender corners, ect.

its a hitch off a early 90s ranger. i cut out the receiver and cut it so its flush with the front. used some 1/4 in plate for gussets. its welded to the stock tow hook mounts.

stubby bumpers are good for getting header panels torn off.

I can understand if you are building a bumper and ran out of time/materials/ or are just too lazy to finish it. but taking away some bumper? I do not get it.

i cut it yesterday....as short as i could.
i did it because i like the look of the stub bumpers. i made the decision for aesthetic reasons, but i can see the pros and cons of it. i wheeled it today and it was fine
