I have the Rusty's inverted T steering on my 01 and I have RuffStuff 1 ton inverted T on my 99. My buddy has the serious 1 ton kit ran utk as well. The serious kit and the RuffStuff kit are very close to the same. Frank's kit is slightly more but, requires no welding and less work to install. The RuffStuff kit is cheaper but, requires welding. Both kits are absolutely amazing compared to stock. The Rusty's kit, on the other hand, sucks a fat one. The tube is thin, the rod ends are tiny, and the tie rod hits the track bar bolt, causing the bolt to eventually come loose.

A friend of mine has the one ton steering kit and the long arm up-grade from Serious. Really great stuff. I wish I could swing the long arm kit. They stand by their products too. You won't go wrong with these guys!!!

I hadn't even thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense. If there are cracks how much more am I looking at here? I feel like repairing the crack could be a much larger job than I had anticipated.

Also, I've seen people talking about alloy ball joints instead of Spicer. Any thoughts on how the two compare?

Update to my last post...I went out and checked the steering box area. Looks like the box mounting bracket is cracked, but the frame is fine. Can someone confirm that this is what is probably causing the popping sound?

That should be pretty easy to fix. Guess I'll throw that part on the list as well

Don't go with stock steering box spacer, it will just crack again. JCR,Dirtbound, and others make heavy duty versions, if you dont want to make your own.

Ok. First of all, thanks everyone for all the advice. I've put together my list and I'm going to start ordering things this weekend. Here is what I have:

-Serious Offroad 1 Ton UTK Steering Kit - $332
Comes with Tie Rod, Drag Link, Tie Rod Ends, Poly Spacers, and Tapered Inserts
-Rubicon Express Adjustable Track Bar - $164.99 (4WheelParts)
The only concern I have is that it says 3.5"-4.5" lift and I only have 3"
Dana Spicer Ball Joints - $63.99 (Per side)
JCR Offroad Steering Box Spacer - $48 (Quadratec)

This totals up to about $673 and all i have left is the steering stabilizer. So with the addition of the spacer, I'm right on budget!

As for the stabilizer, I'm looking at one from Skyjacker and one from Teraflex. They're both about $50. Any experience either way? Or another to look at for about the same price? Do I need a stabilizer with the 1 ton upgrade? Or do I need a different one since the kit is designed to fit a Chevy?

Nice upgrades! That should take care of things.

My 1 Ton kit is not designed for Chevys, it's a dedicated Jeep kit that uses GM 1 Ton TRE's.

Although I do offer a steering dampener bracket on my site, install the steering kit and run it for a couple weeks without a dampener....you'll be surprised.

Track bar? The RE1600 will work fine for your ride height.

That makes more sense. Guess I'll try it without the dampener. And with those prices on the same ball joints and track bar, looks like all my new steering parts will be bought from serious offroad! I've heard to many good things about you to not jump on those deals!
