hey all,
Im considering upgrading my steering, though i have some questions...
Most kits im looking at require reaming the knuckle and pitman arm out to 5/8ths.
Is the stock set up strong enough to bore the mounting areas out to 5/8 for a heim steering up to 33-35" tires? i dont plan on adding any new knuckls or weld on support for them, perhaps a truss and LCA brackets at best.
Does anyone regret switching to heim steering?
i appreciate any feedback

No regrets going to 5/8" heims, almost 2 years now no issues. If you run it over the knuckle I would recommend welding up a double shear bracket on the passenger side.

do you feel like 5/8 isnt too big for the stock knuckle?
i can find install vids, but no really good pictures of how much meat is left on the knuckle/ pitman.

I didn't take pictures but 5/8" was basically just one size up from the large tapered end of the knuckle, so you're not taking that much meat off. I used a cordless drill and had all 3 of them drilled out in less time than I was able to remove one side of my ball joints that I was replacing at the same time.
