Steering issue
I have a strange one here. I am currently running a stock power steering pump, Durango box, a flipped ZJ tie rod using inserts and a right hand drive XJ drag link. With all four wheels on the ground I am only getting partial turning ability. The wheels do not turn fully to both sides or hit the steering stops. However, when the axle is fully supported on jack stands the wheels turn full lock to lock. There is no binding that I can tell in either situation and there is clearance from all steering components. The only thing that I can think of right now is that it is related to the track bar as I do not have one installed right now (on order). I'm looking for any ideas of if anyone may have run into the same situation.

when you steer, you will notice that the front of the truck moves quite a bit on top of the axle. It shouldn't
You need a track bar.

No track bar? simple. when the jeep is on the ground, there is more drag on the tires and instead of moving the tires, the steering moves the axle.

You don't have a trac bar?
There's your problem...
With the weight of the jeep on the tires and no tb your jeep will just slide the body from side to side a bit over the front axle because there is nothing to keep the body in place relative to the axle.

Here is the whole thing. The tie rod is flipped and the knuckles were drilled out and the tapered inserts were welded in. ZJ tie rod and RHD XJ drag link.
Here is a close up of the drag link. The RHD drag link bends the opposite way of the LHD unit so when you flip everything the bend goes towards the front of the Jeep and not into the axle. I did have to remove the sway bar and stabilizer mounts, but this is a trial only rig so not an issue for me.
Other side. I know all my seals are leaking badly...taking care of that this weekend.

Don't even have a stock Tb you can toss on and see if that works?
I broke a Rusty's tb going down the highway and could turn.. but very little. The body moving over the axle made it impossible to get the full turn radius

I have an adjustable Rock Krawler that I just picked up. Just haven't had time to get it installed yet. I noticed the lack of steering while trying to get it on the trailer this weekend but will throw on the new bar this weekend while I am under there to do the axle seals.

Mmmmmm...bump steer. But seriously, will there be an issue while crawling? I've wondered about that. This thing will never get near any paved road.

You may have binding issues, can't say for sure though. You won't know until you have the trackbar on and try it out.
Looks like you need some new axle seals on there too.
