Default Squeaking Brake help needed

I have a 1997 XJ lifted and modified. It has slotted rotors and a good bit of brake pads left. They are no where near needing replaced. Out of the blue they started squeaking as I brake, coming to a stop. They don't squeak while driving nor before they heat up. It just seems to do this in the last bit before I come to a stop. This is my understanding or the situation and advice a decent shop gave me. I can not turn the rotors due to them being slotted. They are not warped, I get no feedback threw the steering wheel. Pads are in good shape. I was told I can't just chenge the pads and that although it might work for a little while, the problem will return. I hate to trash good rotors if I don't have to but I hate sounding like a piece of junk when braking to a stop..

Thoughts and comments please.

You can try sanding the glaze off the pads by sanding them with 80 grit paper on a flat surface that should take care of the noise .

There are some rubber/plastic pads that go between the caliper and back side of the pads. Those are to quiet that squeal. Also there is some spray on stuff for that at auto parts stores

You can also get some silicone ceramic break lubricant and apply it to the moving parts (not the pads and rotors. I assume you know that but you never know). Grease up the pins and all the other parts where metal is touching metal.

Also, I have a hard time believing slotted rotors can’t be machined.
