Default Ceramic or Metalic replacement brake pads?

I am looking at Centric C-Tek brake pads.
Don't quite know the differences and benefits of ceramic or metallic brake pads.

Help me out with some knowledge here.

Thanks.

Semi-mets FTW...

Ceramics last longer, but the stopping ability is less.

Here's a link to a good article on it, pros and cons for each on the bottom:

Ceramics- none or minimal brake dust, last longer, slightly less braking power, ?wear out rotors

Metallics- Lots of dust, black dust, good braking, wear out quickly

Semi-Metallics- compromise of the 2, some dust, good braking, good life

I've used all 3 on XJ. All were Centric from Rockauto. I've settled on the Semi-Metallics.
I always use Centric Premium rotors. They seem to last the longest and warp the least.

Semi-metallics for the XJ. For the reasons given by CobraMarty and Roninofako above.

Semi metallics stop good for me but they're kind of noisy. Using Napa premium ones.
