Spring pack tear down
Installing some used leaf springs on one of my XJ's, and I am replacing the centering bolts so they are apart. Question is whats the best way to clean them up (rust and etc.) and also can I get replacement friction pads for them? I have heard of using teflon paint to reduce friction between leaves, does such a product exist?

"snag" or hand grinder and a wire twist cup brush. nI like a stainless cup brush. Cleans off the rust, scale, and leaves a tough finish that should accept paint quite well. Wear leather gloves and eye protection, the cup brush bristles can fly off. Hold on tight. No knowledge of the teflon paint, could always goggle that, if a myth it could be stocked beside the pixy dust. Go with a rust inhibiting paint as next best choice, black is easiest for future touch ups.

There's a product called ez-slide, it's a graphite based paint. I used them on my leaf packs over my top coat of paint. You can also get Teflon leaf liners from a spring supplier. It comes in a roll and you just cut to length.
