so im about to put some 33's on my xj, and i was just wondering what my options are for making the speedometer accurate.. its a 92 larado if that means anything..

 

Nice I have a 92 laredo aswell...
I know that with 31s you're looking at about 5mph higher than the actual speed when you're going past 45mph.. With 33s I'd imagine you're off by 7mph when you're past 45. Your options to make the speedo acurate are to get a new speedo gear from quadratec or any other jeep parts place. They'll have exactly what you need. Personally with my 31s, I just use my gps on my phone to tell me what speed I'm going when I'm really worried about cops

 

yeah.. i figured id have to gear it.. but i know some vehicles you can buy sensors or other things... guess thats not the case... thanks for tellin me where to get em though... hopefully this wont be as bad as it was on my camaro.. (went from a 2.73 to 4.10 gears )

Divide the stock tire height into the new tire height.
28 / 33 = .85
Multiply that number with the tooth count on the stock speedometer driven gear. That will be the number of teeth you need on your new speedo gear. (If your original gear has 35 teeth: 35 x .85 = 29.75 or 30 teeth) This only works if you haven't changed your differential gears.

i knew the calculation lol.. i just didnt know the number of original teeth.. thanks though... and i had already figured it out lol.. i guess i shoulda posted saying so.. but thanks alot, yall are alot more active/ helpful than alot of other forums.. lol
