I prefer the Aussies but Spartans have developed a great reputation.
Why New thrust washers? Is this to replace an existing part that should be replaced when the locker is installed?

The Lokka/Aussie locker requires re-using the thrust washers (or installing new ones). You have to measure the gap when you install the locker in the carrier, and if the gap is not right, the only way to correct it is to replace the thrust washers. Going new might make sense, but I will probably reuse my old ones unless the gap doesn't measure out. I can get the parts pretty quick on a Saturday if I need to, I hope.

I must have gotten a good deal on mine then I only paid 200 new. Maybe it was a holiday sale or something... the D30 Aussie locker I was just looking at was 250...

Like I said I don't have a preference but have never had an issue with my spartan. I just bought what was less money at the time.

Has anyone seen excessive wear in the carrier due to the Spartan not using the thrush washers?

No. There's not enough speed differentiation to cause wear. The only reason why you need thrust washers with Aussies and the like is to maintain the proper spacing between the locker gears. USA standard gear decided to take the proper spacing into account without using thrust washers when designing their spartan gears. Just different ways of skinning the same cat.
