Default Sounds like something is loose in the front end...

I've been noticing a noise that is a little hard to describe in my 2000 XJ with a 3" Rough Country lift. When going through a worn out intersection where theres deep grooves worn in from tires and driving over those grooves or small speedbumps/bumps in the road it sounds sort of like something is wobbling which is why the sound is hard to describe, its not a clunking sound or click it just sounds like something that shouldn't be moving is. I'm also away from home for a few months so I only have some of my tools and do not currently have access to a jack. I was hoping to jack up my Jeep and at least check the wheels to see if its a bad ball joint. Do you know some easy ways to check out the front end without lifting up the Jeep and also which parts I should be looking at?

You can use the same jack you use to change a flat tire , all you need is to get the tire off the ground to check the ball joints . for all the other parts it can be on the ground .

Thanks I just checked and there doesn’t seem to be any play at 12 and 6 o’clock on either side but a little at 9 and 3 o’clock. Do you know what I should check first?

start shaking things with your hands to see if their loose, like the track bar, sway bar etc.

alright if you have access to another set of hands lay down under front of jeep and have the other person start moving the wheel side to side lock to lock and generally wiggling the steering wheel check your tierod ends on all ends and drag link. also another thing to check would be possible wheel bearing due to position on the tire that you had movement.
