I vote for the cowl on a daily driver. the full snorkel is cool on a trail rig but in my opinion look a little goofy on the street and if you're really in water that deep you got other problems anyway

snorkels are not for getting in that deep. it is insurance for when you go in over your hood.

i prefer the a pillar snorkels over the home made do it yourself cowl versions, cause if you do get a rush of water up the hood to your windshield, it would be like pouring a bucket into your intake.

that's just not true I have a cowl snorkel and have dumped numerous buckets of water in the cowl it does not get in the intake I have also stuck a garden hose in there and the intake was perfectly dry . It is designed to drain away so that water does not getting the ac/ heat system.

with that said if you go up above the windshield line in standing water its gonna get in the intake it will also be filling your interior through the vents

maybe if you have the intake for the snorkel on the driver side, but the passenger side is covered

cowl looks cleaner and doesn't have an intake tube to rip off while on the trail.

and depending on the cowl style you choose, it can also clean up the engine bay.

Im gonna do the pass side with the filter in the cowl i just don't want to hydro lock my engine in like a monsoon or something like i said im more worried about heavy rain than anything else so im gonna have to rtv the hell out of any holes on the cowl
