SLE and driveshaft at 5-5.5 inches of lift?
have a 4.5 inch rough country lift, want to add coil spacers and new leaf springs. but I dont want to drop all of that money into a slip yoke and a new driveshaft. can I get away without buying them?

get away? no. you'll need an SYE. custom driveshaft? absolutely not. take your front driveshaft off and install it in the rear with your new SYE. go find another front driveshaft at the junk yard

The factory drive shaft and slip yoke can only take so much angle. You can literally snap your t case main shaft is you wheel it hard and have to much lift

Adding the angle will stick the slip yoke in farther so that way its easier on it. I never disagreed just tired of people saying you cant when you can. Me personally was worried about driving my xj with the slip yoke at 6 in lift so should you run sye yes is it needed to where you can drive no recommended to wheel that way hell no

sye and a donor shaft was a GOD SENT for me, I had TERRIBLE vibes!
For $200, in my case, I dont understand why no one likes to spend the money. Rugged Ridge sye $160, JY shaft $40. I know others like different brands of sye kit that are more expensive, but the RR sye is doing the job.
IMO the cost for doing the SYE is from the custom shaft like a Toms Woods ($400) not the sye kit itself.
SYE ranks #3 in mods for me, only behind my shackle relocation kit, and headlight/harness upgrade.
