Default should this have worked?

I thought I had a Dana 35 rear and put a lock right in for a Dana 35. It works great but turns out I have a 8.25? Is this possible?

LOL. Unless your splines are correct or someone else has knowledge of the cross over I would not do it. It may just be that the splines are barely in there.

Just would make certain of everything, before you really use it.

The 8.25 has a large flange hanging down on the bottom. That is flat across.

I will add pics later app crashes on phone when adding them. I have put about 100 miles in it and some hard off roading so far and its locked. I had to grind the c clips down to fit inside of the sleeve. I didn't know I had the 8.25 until a few minuets ago.

I sold him the locker and it came out of my dana 35 27 spline and I bought it new for a 35. The installed pic looks like gap might be to large I could be wrong but it being for a 35 must be why you had to use different c-clips.

Lol. I'm amazed right now lol. Well I'm gonna leave it there until I have issues. I can say it works it doesn't slip when under power and clicks when out of power.

What is the spline count on the 8.25. I think the newer ones are 29 dont know on older.

I would be weary running it.

8.25's are 27 & 29 spline. Depends on year.

Mine is a 27 spline it is a 95 model. I would have been worried before I done it If I had known. I have had it in for a week and drove it 70 miles to a ride yesterday and the ride we went on was extremely hard on it and no issues from rear. Never slipped once.

You have an 8.25... not a D35. Look at the pics you posted, a 35 does not have the adjustments at the bearing caps.
