if it is indeed a d35 locker pull it out and install it in the dana 30, then buy one for the 8.25. no reason to waste a good locker with an experiment when it can be salvaged and put to good use.

also this will allow you to check the PN and verify what it is actually for.

Even if both axles are 27 spline. The actual diameters are different at the spline end.
So to keep the price down they use the same cut, beacuse its cheeper, makes since... After all it was a snug fit...

It would seam that they make the Dana 35 locker to match the 8.25 27 shafts to, to keep costs down, Idk I'm just guessing...

I would remove it before you damage the locker or axle shafts...or both

I will most likely do this when I come across a good deal on an 8.25 locker. I'm not cheap but got to keep the prego wife happy lol. I will verify the part number when I do this. The package for the pins and springs were the Dana 35 part number for those I checked those to make sure. (Just should have checked my rearend too haha) the brakes for Dana 35 and 8.25 are compatible too. Since that is what I bought those for as well haha. Axle seals are not the same.

Contact Richmond and ask about interchangeability.... They would be able to compare specs

I spoke to a rep from Richmond and they informed me that it shouldn't work and that they are surprised that it does. He said that the gap look to be a bit wide but if its working then it must be within the limits. He also said that he can't say I should keep running this since its not designed to work. But since it is working he doesn't see any reason that it could cause damage to anything other than the locker if it decided to fail.

Just an update to this. Been about 5k off-road miles and still works like a charm. I have had no issues with this setup so far. It has never slipped on me when under power. No weird noises.
