Hi everybody, sorry if this is already out there somewhere. I'll spare everyone the whole list of what my jeep has and just let y'all know that it is very heavy and is my daily. It is lifted 4.5 inches so I need something capable for that. I've been having significant body roll and after inspecting everything I've come to the conclusion that my shocks are just not stiff enough. My jeep sees some offroading but I'm not worry about it feeling smooth offroad I'm more worried about the on road stability. Also, I plan on towing an overland camper in the future so something that can handle the weight. And something budget friendly would be nice, but if I need to go more expensive I will. Under 500 for all four would be ideal. I've looked at the rancho rs9000xl and the rubicon express monotubes. Anybody got any experience with these? Any other suggestions?

Theres to much miss information in most areas of off road topics splatterd all over the internet. I wonder if some who give advice even have jeeps. Though there is good information to but youl have to dig for it
Accutune is one place ive talked to quuite abit about shocks.
Youl need to weigh to rig front and rear axle separately then stop wasting time on the internet and make some phone calls.
Accutune is just one company I've dealt with there are lots of others out there building shocks. You'd Be wise to talk to them instead of a bunch of 60year old geysers who are sitting on the couch pretending to be jeepers. Haha kidding well kinda.
Yes I responded before reading your hole post.
I wouldn't put a cookie cutter shock of any brand on it. Doesnt matter if its fox king or bilstein.
I will push fox 2.0 valved to your vehicle weight and your wants needs as the driver. King just cost more and same awesome outcome as fox
I'll also push fox compression adjuster shocks on you since youl be having these shocks living in very. different worlds at times. King also has shocks with clickers but suposebly doesn't work aswell as fox lsc adjusters.
Rancho 9000 i had a set on a chevy pickup that i ran 35s on. I was kid then and had no idea what I was doing.
Today Ranchos I wouldn't buy they just don't provide anything I want.
I have ran kyb monomax shocks valved for full size pickups on my jeep. That worked very well compared to the one size fits all jeep application type shocks.
500 in my opinion doesn't get much in the shock dept. Thats just enough to get into a hyped up one size fits all type of shock.
Good luck and have fun with it.

What's the situation with your roll bars? With disconnects, running a stiffer front sway bar will not affect you one bit off-road but will greatly reduce your sway on-road. Either find one in a junkyard with the largest OEM diameter (28mm) or pick up a Dorman 927302 ($140 on Amazon). Cheaper than the aftermarket options and basically the same thing (1-1/8 dia). The paint doesn't hold up over the long haul but otherwise, no complaints here. While I can't disagree one bit with what Evan is saying, I find the Bilstein 5100s to be pretty stiff and I'm generally happy with them. 4 of them and that Dorman sway bar will come in right around your $500 budget.

The thing that gets me is everyone loves 5100s doesn't seem to matter the vehicles weight tire size or driving style. My guess is they are magic cookie cutter shocks with special shock oil addictive that allow them to learn the vehicle they are on. Some kinda little tuning chips suspended in the oil addictive package.
haha. I think they are like warn winches even if they suck noone says so.
I did fall into the 5100 wagon but on my cummins pickup one leaks now after 50k or so wich is alot of miles so I give them that. I tried them hopping for more stable on rd handling. They improved little to none over the high mileage leaking shocks i replaced. Ill likely not buy another set butvtgats me i got my miles out of them and will move on.
I do really like the kyb monomax pickup shocks more confident ride when loaded and never had one leak.
Shocks are for tge most part a consumable unless you get into the fox race series or king foa or otheres. Don't like well that sucks. The 5100 is cheap so doesn't hurt to bad.
