Hi all! I'm looking at buying a 3.5" Rubicon Express Super-Ride lift kit for my stock-height '89 XJ. My current front and rear shocks are the stock-length Bilstien 4600 series, which I would really like to keep if I can. To accommodate the lift, could I use bar pin eliminators along with my current shocks as a substitute for a set of new shocks (of any brand)? Being on a high school budget, I'd much like to do this so I can save a couple hundred bucks, which matters a lot for me. If the bar pin eliminators don't add enough length to fit my current shocks without over-extending, I can make some spacer plates to go in-between them and the body, along with using some longer bolts. Any thoughts? I've searched high and low, but I thought I'd ask so I can make the best choice for my situation. Your advice and recommendations are greatly appreciated!
I believe the 4600s are for 0-2 inch lift. Also, I have heard, never confirmed, that rubicon express gives more lift then advert. With this, I would recommend selling your current shocks to help pay for new ones. Better to do something right that take shortcuts, even if you are on a budget.
Ask me how I know lol
