Default Shock Length Bilstein 5125

I just measured for the shock I need and I'm having an issue finding what I need. I measured 17" compressed and 27" extended. Bilstein offers a shock that is really close to that with a compressed length of 17" and an extended length of 28". I don't want to over compress the shock, say if my bump stop takes a hard hit and compresses it more than just flexing it out. Is there a shock company that is close in quality and price that offers different length shocks so I can find something closer to what I need? I would like to run a 16-28" shock if possible.

I would probably just bump-stop it a bit more to give yourself some wiggle room.

I read the article/post on low COG. I think it's more about droop than about upward travel of the wheels. Right? Limit the upward travel with bumpstops so you don't jam the tires up in there, and get longer shocks (if possible) to allow more droop.

BTW, I'm totally new to this. I haven't even bought my XJ yet, just lurking, learning.

I'm looking for the maximum amount of shock travel. I am bump stopped, with the tire stuffed I have measured 17" compressed and 27" extended. I can go longer since that is just as the spring comes unseated of the spring perch up top. I didn't read this anywhere, but I would think the center of gravity would be lower the more up travel you have.

I'm gonna give the Skyjacker M95 series a shot. I found one that is 16.7/28.6. They also have internal bump stops. I read a lot of reviews and they are compared to the Bilstein 5100 in quality and performance.

Nothing compares to Bilstein for the price.
