Default School me on gears and carriers....

Need to install my Spartan Locker in my rear 8.25, If i remove the carrier and ring gear, do i have to "set up" the gears again, or can i just reinstall it the way it came out? I am not gear savvy, but i have watched a few videos on the spartan install.

no you will not need to set up the gears again. just take note of the bearing cap orientation and install them the same way.

Humor me here, but I'm just wondering why you want to remove the carrier from the diff to do this? This whole thing can be done without taking the carrier out since the Spartan only replaces the spider gears.

The problem with the 8.25" axle is that it uses side adjustment screws for proper carrier preload and backlash. Normally with shims it would be a matter of just putting the same shims back on and run it, but with side adjusters I'm pretty sure you'll have to at least re-set your backlash and preload, which does require a special tool.

Personally, I'd leave the carrier alone in the axle. Just my $.02

Spartan lockers are the easiest lunchbox lockers to install. I would leave the carrier in place.

Fair enough! So to not have to do it under the vehicle, the options would be pulling the carrier or pulling the axle. Because the 8.25 uses the side adjusters instead of shims, I'd probably pull the axle from under the vehicle instead of pulling the carrier.

Aside from that, maybe if you can jack the rear end high enough and use some tall jack stands, you can sit in a lawn chair and work on it? Just some ideas!
