Quote: Yeah, I think I am going to get some of these myself. I think this will be a cost effective solution to level up the sagging on one side of the rear of my jeep.

I don't guess it matters if you don't have the shackles mounted in the same holes on both sides, would it? Like if they were just one hole off on each side.

this question has never came up b4 but I would say they should probably be ran in the same hole on each side

Quote: I don't have the shackle extensions yet but when I added the 2" RC shackles on the rear I had to cut off some of my tail pipe, maybe like 6" because it was rubbing up against the lower shackle bolt.

So you will probably have the same issue adding the extensions on. I just cut off enough for the tail pipe to clear the shackle and no more. It looks more like a straight pipe out the rear now versus the little turn down it had.
Even better as the turned down piece gets hooked up sometimes...I was thinking of cutting the pipe at the axle and tacking the turned piece back on..
Hopefully they ship to Ireland. the bracket would make a nice addition to my 3" IRO lift....

I've seen people do this but I don't get why. Just heat that puppy up with a torch and bend it out of the way of the shackle. I'm running those RC drop shackles and did just that. Besides, you really don't want your exhaust dumping underneath the chassis.

i think it's a great mod, and it looks very easy to install. i had thought about the HD kit, but since I can't weld, I had passed on it. I don't have an xj anymore, but i would recommend this bolt on kit.

the shackle angle is the worst thing jeep did to the cherokee. next to the unibody lol.

Shackle Angle
RC Shackle relocation brackets will take care of this, they are on their way. Thanks to Jason Birkes (GRIMUS99XJ)

I wish I was set up with a torch kit but am not at the moment. I did not cut it way back. Just enough to clear the lower shackle bolt.

I was thinking about adding one of those chrome end pipes so that would extend it back out some. I know they slip over the existing pipe but I could fudge it some to get it sticking a little further out.

I don't know why Jeep crammed that thing between the gas tank and the leaf springs anyway. There is not much room to finagle the pipe around.

Shackle Angle
Right now the ride is no worse than what it was with the stock shackles and flat springs (hard). The stock shackle was resting on the back of the shackle box the same way with the stock flat springs when I first got the XJ. At this time I’m not driving the XJ while I’m working on this build so it’s hard to say much about the ride, with the shackles touching in the back the ride is hard. I tried longer lift shackles and they gave me some clearance as you can see in the picture but it’s not enough, that is why I’m installing the RC Shackle Relocation Brackets. I did however check the ride of the springs with the loner shackles and its night and day difference on the road, however the shackles do hit in the back when the springs flex. I don’t want the additional lift from the long shackles that is why I removed them, but the relocation brackets and the stock shackles should do just right. I’m shooting for about a 45 degree angle on the shackles. The brackets seem to give a good amount of room for adjustments?

I hear ya, there isn't that much room. Especially when you throw on a receiver and tank skid.
