Default v8 vs. 4.0

Is there a huge difference in power? Can the inline hold up? What's the gas mileage like?

On a stock 4.0 the horspower is a little lacking but it is a torque monster and it will out last any v8 my 4.0 has over 330k on it and I still daily drive it and it runs like a tank. Mpg's for me when I was stock I'd get bout 400 miles to a tank as long As I wasn't running out the gears..... I have a 5spd so easier to control gas milage in my opinion

Trails are easy, but rocks take a little more throttle and clutch control

A trigger throttle will help with that

I wil wiegh in on this. The power difference between a v-8 and i6 might be minimal, or huge depending on the v-8. If it is an older carbed v-8.. benefits would be minimal, but if it is a LQ4 power would be double. Then there are other issues that have to be addressed.

To me a 4.3 chevy as long as it is FI is better then a I6, and doesnt create as many other problems. Horsepower is about the same.. parts are everywhere and packaging is a lil better.

like a gas pedal but for your hands. usually put on the gear shift stick so you can work brake(foot), clutch(foot), and gas(hand)at same time

I wheel with an AX 15.. no issues with stalling, but I do have a doubler so gearing is there.

As for more info on the v-6 Advance adapters sells mounts and exhaust to do it. Check their site.. lots of info on there. I will post a couple of pics of what I am doing to my truggy.

Here is the whole setup.. 4.3 TBI/700r4/231/d300

Ended up shortening the front frame section even after winch mount by 8".

I wheel with a manual, it does give another aspect to it but isnt bad for the occasional offroader.

When mine was stock 2wd 4.0 AX15 i would get up to 23 mpg. today i get 18-19 every tank with lift, 4x4 and different gear ratio's. I love DDing a manual.

V8's come in the grand cherokee and i loved the way mine friends would ride, almost like a caddy compared to my lifed heap. They wouldnt offroad them and i dont know what mileage it gets.

It comes down to personally preference and what kind of deal you can find.
