Roll Your Own Clutch Line?
Ok...
So I have hit a wall. I am unfortunate enough to own a year of XJ where the slave cylinder is in the bell housing. I have swapped it before, but that unit failed. Replaced it with a much nicer one this time. However, the spring clip that connects to the inlet is shot. I have to make a new line from the master to the slave.
I know that some of the folk on here have done this. I cannot seem to find the threads detailing what connectors were needed. I tried to chump out and use polyethylene tubing, as it felt similar to what the original stuff was. That isn't holding pressure/is dripping past the clamps I used. I know, really mickey mouse BS.
I am thinking brake hose and???? Or should I just be calling an offroad shop and have them roll one up, and just bite the bullet on cost?

I converted mine to army-navy fittings. cost me about $100. just used a flare to -an adapter on both ends, and some earls stainless braided between. also changed the master cause it was dirty. its always better to change everything at once because of contamination, or at least make sure you have zero dirt/moisture in the system. I did the same as you, cheaped out on the slave, had it fail, then bought new everything from top to bottom including a Timken slave. So far its worth it, even though I hated the price.

Going to work with my professor tomorrow to see if we can't fabricate something.
I like the idea of rolling all metal line, and throwing a few coils in there for good measure... but I would have to get the hardware, and add a flare to the slave cylinder inlet line. Not the most impossible thing to do. Getting that -an fitting for the master though... that might be a trick to find locally.

I have everything to convert it to external slave sitting in my shop. Brand new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, retainer plate, bell housing and the clutch/master cylinder. $250 plus shipping.

The hard parts:
getting $250 to spare at any given time.
My Jeep is pretty beat up. Lol. We're gonna be hitting up a hydraulic supply shop at the start of the class week. I've already dumped about $130 between a new crank sensor and the throwout.
