rockers
The rocker panels. Are the visible skin you see what keeps vehicle enclosed or is there an inner layer? Starting to hole and thought square tubing in place of round skin could work?

if you're trying to put a square hole in your round skin you're doing it wrong
keep round things round and square things square. that's how you keep the vehicle enclosed

The rockers under the door are round. They are also starting to get rust holes. Can I just cut the skin off and replace with square tubing like rocker guards? Or are they needed and its un-doable?
