rocker panel/slider sugestions
Alright I just bought another xj after a year without one. I bought one plagued by cancer (rust) the rockers are getting bad and the hatch is the worst. My question is... Is there any rock sliders that just replace the panel all together? I like jcr's but can't tell if they just go around the panel or if it replaces it. I've been out of the xj game for awhile actually the 4x4 game in general so links to any sugestions would be awesome since I don't really know any manufactures to look up.
Thanks in advance!

That seems simple enough. Would rather go with a manufactured piece tho. Something to bolt to the pinch seam.

2x6 box tubing fits where the rocker panels used to be like a glove, just cut the old out, jack it in place, and weld in. I have also seen 2x4 used, but it doesnt jut out like the 2x6 and protect the doors a bit.
Anything more than 2" doesnt fit in the little pocket as nicely and will hog a bit of ground clearance.
Also, if you do this, tie them into the frame if you plan on wheeling hard (bouncing the entire weight of the jeep on them kinda hard) they will eventually crush in the unibody after a while. But for just slow speed dragging over rocks you dont need any reinforcement.
As for a manufactured product that has you cut out the old rocker and bolt something in place, i dont think it exists. And if it does, its a pretty foolish idea. I know jcr only covers the old rockers.
