I am working on my friend's 2001 XJ to get rid of a leak between the AW4 and the transfer case. Much to his delight I informed him that he has a Teraflex Teralow 4:1 kit installed. (He bought it second hand a few years back).

My problem is that no one seems to be able to supply the correct front bearing housing seal for the TC. I contacted Teraflex via email and can call them after work but offhand, does anyone have a manufacturer part number for that seal? The old seal has no marking and I know they supplied a new seal in the original kit.

 

So I got my answer from Teraflex. The seals that the parts store keep giving me are acceptable parts. They only have one lip though and the one supplied by them is double-lipped which is why it is twice as thick as the stock seal. The equivalent part is Timken 3173 that you can get at the zone or thru rockauto.
