Default Right hand drive radiator

Has anybody tried using a right hand drive radiator so the trans cooler is moved to the right side and it will open up the the lower hose because if you look inside the lower hose the trans cooler blocks a good part of the opening . I know on my camaro when I moved the trans cooler away from the hose opening it did run cooler , I was just wondering if it would help the xj 's running hot .

No, it makes things worse cause the "hot" side of the tank is now where the trans cooler is. This overheats the trans and engine more than LHD rads

Some Oz owners have even imported LHD rads to help try overcome this issue (with limited success)

The problem is the XJ has a marginal cooling system in hot climates

Its about duty cycle. You will never see an issue if the temps is the the 70s or below. Once it climbs into the 90s, things run hot

The AW4 will self destruct prematurely if run in a high temp duty cycle. bringing an end to most older XJ, as they are all auto here, and the cost of repair is more than the vehicles value

( unless you have spare working trans to put in yourself)

That's good info thank you . Yes I agree that the XJ has a marginal cooling system , I wish there was a way to get a taller radiator in there that would fix the cooling system .

If you can find one, the OEM HD radiator has a thicker core, though the height and length are the same.

I am out in the wonderful San Bernardino mountain area. Pretty much right below Arrowhead/Crestline. 120° in the summer is normal out here.
