Best. Advice. EVER. LOL Is this your first child? You'd be surprised at what kids can sleep through...everyone thinks SHHHH...QUIET!!! BABY'S SLEEPING!!! The reality is quite the opposite. They'll sleep when you don't want them to, and be awake when you think they should be asleep. Don't stress on this too much. Roll with it.

Carpet is great unless you spend a good amount of time in wet conditions. Mud falls off/ snow melts off your shoes and the carpet just traps water on the floorboards causing rust fairly quickly. Not to mention spilled drinks, dog **** or whatever else might happen in your car.
Now amost every car has carpet of course but the XJ is shaped terribly and has no auto drain to speak of. I was pretty shocked at how bad mine were especially since there is no salt anywhere I have lived.
If my jeep were not used In mud/snow etc. as much, I would have stuck with carpet.

amen, father of twins and we took them everywhere including wheeling. To this day those kids can sleep anywhere. I still have the opinion that nothing beats carpet in the end. It lasts 15-20 years, costs 200 for a full set and takes a ton of abuse. There are a lot of cool things out there for floors but I think I'm a carpet guy. Lol.
I agree and the good mats will hold about everything you can throw at them. In fact my grandson filled a 2 liter bottle with water at the car wash last year and pored it into the mat from the pass side when it was on the ground to be washed, that damned thing was just a little over half full with 2 liters of water in it.
These aren't as nice or as costly as the "Weather Tec's" in my WJ but they are an excellent buy from Quadratec with their brand name on them.

Here is my thread on the subject:
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/mi...dening-207065/
I used Herculiner, didn't like how loud it was, made a mix of microballons (just read the thread) and some more bedliner to coat it followed by a final coat of bedliner. I then did posted before/after decible readings. Lizard skin is the effectively house paint with microballons mixed in. Just buy a bag of microballoons off ebay, get some "Oops" paint at lowes/home depot and lay on a bunch of thick coats. Then bedline on the top of it (you should probably primer under it).

I'll have to read your thread, I'm still fairly new to finding anything on the forum... Or responding to two people in one post. Haha. This is a good idea. Lizard skin seemed so expensive and I don't care what color it is because I'd go over it anyway. Thanks!

Yes, it's my first and I completely agree with you. Haha. I'm just trying to find a good compromise between buying a new Jeep, and keeping mine just the way it is. I sure never had a new, quiet car to ride in as a baby.
