I have looked around a little and found very little info on this swap. Anybody know what would be involved swapping this into a 95 XJ with a 4.0?

 

Why would you swap in a WEAKER tranny??????? That why it's not a common swap. You'll find some swaps from 42rle to AW4 in Grand Cherokee forums, just do it in reverse

 

X2 Why would you want to swap? Especially if your keeping the stock engine. Have you even began to have problems with your current transmission?
The aw4 is popular for a reason. Keep it and spend your money on a weak point which is likely to be your axles.

 

X3 aw4 is way better than chrysler trans!

 

not worth it, most of those trannys are worn out after only 150,000 miles. when ive seen aw4's with over 300,000 miles

 

Why swap? Because I can get a smoking deal on one with a advance adapter rubicrawler. Thought it might be a cheaper alternative to a terra low 4 to 1 kit. I have not had any trouble with the aw 4 and will probably keep it.
