Default Renix fuel system and HO engine

SO i'm going to be putting a 1996 HO motor, intake, TB into my 5 speed 1990 Comanche but i'm keeping the renix controls. It seems pretty straight forward but I'm curious what options I have as far as the fuel rail is concerned. I know there is a difference between the 96 and 90 fuel rails so I found a 91-95 style which can mount to the 96 intake and has similar inputs and fpr as the 90 rail.

I've read that I need to extend the fuel lines from the body to the new input location, so what all do I need to do that? could anybody provide examples of how they did it?


Alternatively.. Is it possible to keep the renix rail and mate it to the 96 intake?

I'm going to get the TPS adapter (http://www.hesco.us/products/7902/40...7#.VvnpMPkrK00)

or follow one of the many examples online on how to make an adapter.

Why go to the trouble?

Nothing wrong with the Renix manifold.

Throttle body can be bored to 60mm which is the size in the manifold.

I was hoping to get muh gainz out of the newer manifold. Or is the port mismatch not that big of an issue?

The HO manifold is no better. You just port match the Renix intake and the HO intake ports to a Renix gasket.

Read this:

HO myth buster


Renix in 90 made 182 HP. HO in 91 made 190 HP. That's 8 HP difference.

HO only made more HP than Renix at higher RPMs and not a bit more torque. HO had 58 mm throttle body versus a 52 mm throttle body on a Renix and also had a better design header. See where I'm going with this?

The whole 8HP was not mostly from the head, but from the bigger TB and better exhaust manifold.

Put a 60mm TB from www.strokedjeep.com on your present head, eliminate the "crush" in your headpipe with proper re-routing, and go for it.

HO stands for Highly Overrated.

I don't mean to sound dumb but how does one port match?

Also, I may have missed it but does your write ups discuss deleting the HO ac? my renix does not have an AC. Do i just get one of the AC delete pullies online or do one of the alternator relocation jobbies? or is there a similar pully on my renix I can reuse?

Port matching can be done with an air powered tool.

I use the bit like the one third from the left. All you need.

You really are confusing matters.

All you are replacing is the long block, block and head.....>>>THAT'S IT!

Everything that is bolted to your current Renix engine gets bolted to the HO.
This includes all your accessories, alt, water pump pulley, power steering.....AC delete.....etc........
May also include your HB........>IIRC......otherwise your belt may not track correctly.

Harmonic balancer is the some.

I believe that is what he's doing. Long block. Just searching for a bit more power in the process.

Well my renix has 180+ miles on it and is on its last leg. I kept my 96 engine with 150 on it when I got rid of the body. I just didnt know if that idler pully that replaces the ac on my renix would fit.. I was just thinking too much into it.

I plan on doing the head and block.
