What cables should I upgrade? The progress for these mods will be as follows:
1) Replace old battery in my XJ. (Planning on doing this today)
2) Add in a 9500 LB. Winch (within next 30 days)
3) Add on a 20" KC HiLite Lzr LED bar onto my Smittybilt XRC Bumper Bull Bar (within next 30 days)
4) Add on a CB radio (within the next 90 days)
5) Adding on front and back 40" KC HiLite Lsr LED bars to my jeep roof basket (within next year - still need to buy the basket and the lights which will cost about 3 grand so I'm spreading out my spending)
I also plan to aire these in with rocker switches from: http://www.otrattw.net/Contura-V-SR/
I can get custom made switches from otrattw.net (or at least I've seen that on posts from other jeep forums), so I plan to make my own switch graphics.
Thanks for the advice!

Okay, I looked at the link in my phone's browser but didn't really understand what that was. I'll look again on my desktop later today.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Enter code FE23, 15% off (good till March 8, 2014) and a $25 coupon valid toward future purchase of $50 or more (thru April 18, 2014. Free shipping or in store pickup.

I use two of these on one rig and they run the dual winches just fine. Really good battery for the price.

That looks like a group 29, dop they have a group 34? Isn't a group 34 the stock size on the late model cherokees (like 98 - 01)?
Thanks!

Deep Cycle battery or at least a combonation deep/start like the old yellow tops is my preferred battery. They even have side posts for a dedicated winch.

I think the general concensus on the forums from what I see is that Optimas have gone to crap over the years compared to what they once were, since production was moved to Mexico. So I heard.
I'm getting a Diehard Platinum when I have cash and need a new battery. They are made by Odyssey, not Deka, by the way.

Correct on the Optima's. Hence the subtle use of the word "old".
However, I have been running the Yellow Top for 3 years now, I think it's from Mexico.
I fill tires often (Viar 400) after beach driving and do not run the engine while filling. Flawless so far.
Next battery will be a Diehard Marine Platinum. Deep cycle, military grade.

I'm a big fan of going with the "marine" batteries since the aux terminals are simply studs you can wingnut your aux power to (LED lights and other low-draw accessories) while still mashing your winch power on the mains.
Since the battery debate is similar to every other "this or that" debate known to man, go with what's affordable. The sneaky little ship to store discount coupon for advanced makes the 200$ price a little more edible if you're planning on doing a cable upgrade from 5-90.
There's plenty of options if you want to go the made in the USA route as well.

Supposedly made by Deka. Was like $130. Same size as the Group 34 I had in there. Has side holes and top posts. No complaints so far.
