Rear leaf stretch help (no not leaf flip)
Hello all. Recently working on ton swap XJ on 40s. HP D60 and sterling 10.5
Looking to stay low cog and stretch as much as I can get away with. I have set the stage for this....meaning I know ill need fuel cell and comp cut.
Mocked the rear plate "frame" and removed the OEM shackle boxes. The "frame" extends all the way out and is the rear bumper. As shown here:

Can you guys school me on rear shackle box placement?
I see some shackle mounts on rear bumpers? Am I just landing the new mount all the way at the rear and wherever the front is, is where it goes?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What leafs are you running?
anchor chevy 62" packs in the factory location on the front. Locate rear for properties shackle angle and lift height.
Re drill spring center pin to your desired axle location

Well its been 2 years and im inching closer! Got ruff stuff leaf mounts, u bolt eliminator perches, 3.5 procomp leaf and some shackles.
Im ready to slide the sterling 10.5 under and get the leaf spring mounts set up. Anyone care to share some tips or advice?
Obviously in this pic, its barely hanging there hardly mocked up but I wanted to illustrate what im thinking.
Im trying to stretch the rear as far as possible, but keep the rear mount mount as high as the factory rear leaf mount box was. Its about 8" stretch.
Couple questions:
Im assuming I can ditch the pinion angle shim since im welding my own perches?
The front of the leaf with be mounted higher on the "frame" than it was factory... does that really matter? The rear leaf mount hole will be at the same height as the factory hole was.
My leaf is 52.5" long...shackle 5.25" and desired shackle angle at ride height is 45 degree. This makes the 2 leaf holes 48.75" spaced eye to eye. Hopefully thats correct.
Then just re drill the center pin to the middle of the leaf pack?
Any help is appreciated!

Please excuse the mess. I dont like it either lol
