Default A rear dual tri-link question.

Ok so I'm going to build a dual tri 4-link on the rear of my rig. The question I have is do you think a piece of 1 3/4"× 0.120"over 1 1/2"× 0.120"(so basically 1 3/4"× 0.250") would work for the lower crossmember for the lower link bars. I have cut the front clip off the XJ and am replacing with 2"×3"× 0.188" tube slide all the way thru the stock frame rails to where it kicks up for the rear axle, so that's what it will tie into. This will be a street drivable full body rock rig on coilovers & 37's (possibly 40's ).

That went over my head, but check out the rear end suspension in this picture.

he was asking if it would be ok to combine two tubing into one making it a .250 wall thickness.

Thanks XJ, that was the question. The options I think I have are using that round tube or a piece of 2"×3"×0.188" that I'm using on the frame.

Started on the frame yesterday, these are cut to 74 1/2" & slide all the way back to just past the front rear spring mount.

Still have to figure out a couple of more things before I finish the front clip. Like if I want to set-back the engine some (for better weight distribution ) or stretch the body work (the wheel base is being stretched 4" frt.&rear).

Are you going to stitch weld that tube all the way down inside the framerail? Looks like it's not a very tight fit, and I would want to make sure it was integrated with as much of the uniframe as possible...I see your stiffeners on the floor, but I'd be worried more about that tube inside the rail acting as a big lever in there...cool build though, watching this one...

Yes, how I have the plan in my mind is to install the RuffStuff stiffeners, cut some rosette holes, then insert the new rail (drill&tap in a fee places to be able to pull the 2x3 as snug as possible to the outside) and weld up. Both frt & rear suspension pick up points along with the cage will be tied into the 2x3 in some fashion. The only thing that may not is the rear bumper unless I decide to cut the rear cargo floor out & then I'd just make a complete frame rails.

Yeah true that. I'm not a fabricator or welder by trade (I'm an engine guy) so I know just enough to think I know how to do it.
