Default Rear drive shaft help

Ok so I just got this Xj and I have been figuring out the ins and outs of it. I came across the rear DS and and TC and noticed it had what looked to be a hack and tap sye and a front drive shaft in the rear. Then I noticed at ride height the DS was close to completely collapsed (about .5"). From yoke to yoke it measures 30.5 inches, it's an auto with a 231 and 8.25 rear. It sits right at 10.25 inches from the axle tube to the frame at the rear, so about 4.25 inches of lift. My question is do I need to start the search for a shorter DS or will this be fine. Or could a possibly cut the TC output shaft shorter and retap?

I would either look for another shaft or have that one shortened. The driveline shop I use does it for 40 bucks and that includes rebalancing. Where in NW GA are you because the place I use is in Rossville.

Not a problem. You should come ride with us some time. Dalton isn't that far away. We have plenty of N GA guys in the Chattanooga XJ thread in the Southeast section.

Driveline Specialties off Buford Hwy...been dealing with them for Decades...along with most of the Ga. Racing Crowd...Shaft is usually around $ $100.00-$150.00 depending on how wild you want it..They build Leaf Springs also..

Absolutely, tho I am dealing with the infamous cracked flex plate right now and it's my dd so mild wheeling is all I feel comfortable with right now. I just wish I had enough funds for a super duty and a dual axle trailer and make the Xj a trailer queen and wheel the heck out of it... One day...
