Default Raising stock fender flares?

Ok I was wondering if it is possible to do the cut and fold of the fenders then put the fenders back on so they are higher. I want more clearance. If I can't do this ill just do the cut and fold and leave the flares off but I kind of like the flares. This is on a 99 btw

I have a thread on this in fabrication. You can cut an inch and a half off the fender and still use the stock flares.

But if you go more then your cut out is larger than the flare is, so it wouldn't work unless you made some type of a 0 loss flare mount. I don't think you could do it without drilling holes in the stock flare.

Depending on where you live (I'm in the rust belt), the flares end up trapping in road salt, causing premature rust rot. Just a thought.

There is a paint or spray that you can get so that salt and crap doesn't get into the fenders. It's not a sealant. It's like a protective spray paint. Protects best against the salt they put down when it snows. Can get it at most walmarts for like 10-15$ and how hard is it to take off the fenders and raise them. Could it be a day project for would it take like a week or weekend? What kind of tools do you need?

I did it in a day. I had to figure out how to make it work because I cut more of my fenders. The rear I cut into two pieces, part on the door and part on the body. The front I cut the lip part off the bottom towards the back so it would sit flush.

go to the junk yard and by an extra set of flares, then cut your flares in half and use the center of the stock flares to enlarge the other flares, might be best to by a plastic welding kit, harbor freight has some cheap ones that work well
